Do you KNOW?
Do you KNOW - as in, really know? Do you feel as though you can perceive the nature of all things as far as can be envisioned using your human mind? I'd like to think I can see a good bit of truth, although I do keep in mind I don't know anything... Ultimately, no one does. To KNOW involves being as conscious as one can be. This involves taking in as much information about your surroundings as you can and reflecting upon it, over and over again. Consciousness is both a blessing and a curse, all at once. Take, for example, driving a car and knowing you are running over a good number of insects and/or other small, seemingly "unimportant" lifeforms. For many, it is not what they intend - it is not their will to do so - yet if one were turned on to this realization, they would see it is literally impossible to live your life without taking the life of other lifeforms. It is simply just the cycle of life, as cliche as that statement may be. No one can truly judge what is important and what is not, for ultimately everything feeds the collective whole, which in turn, drives the collective wheel of existence (no pun intended?). Certain things may seem more important through logical deduction and prior experience, but these things are limited to the human psyche. An argument can be made that the human brain is the most complex machine in the known universe, but what does that make the universe itself? A container of the container? It's turtles all the way down... I digress; it is also my belief that everyone is selfish, whether they know it or not. In this "argument", I will use the example of wanting world peace, for it is a common wish among many humans. Surely, world peace would be a Utopian dream-come-true, but would it ultimately not be at least somewhat selfish? It would bring about self-comfort and lack of worry, among other self-righteous qualities. Observe, reflect and re-reflect, for it is all we can do.
